カナダ・アルバータ大学で川井明准教授が招待講演
カナダ・アルバータ大学理学部数理・統計科学科のProf. Linglong Kong先生の招へいを受け、9月11日に本学データサイエンス学部の川井明准教授がUniversity Commons, Univ of Albertaにて以下の演題で招待講演を実施しました。
Part I: Japan’s First Faculty of Data Science: Shiga University
Shiga University established Japan’s first Faculty of Data Science in 2017. Since then, it has played a
leading role in data science education in Japan by developing skill frameworks, curricula, teaching
materials, and textbooks for training data scientists. The Faculty also collaborates with more than 300
companies on joint research and industry-linked education, closely connecting its educational programs
and graduates with the needs of industry and society.
Part II: Data Analysis Case Study Using Real Big Data
This research talk will present two case studies arising from joint projects with companies and
government organizations.
- The first study uses ten years of ambulance dispatch data from Hikone City, where Shiga University is
located. The project examines how to optimize and adjust the service areas of ambulance stations and
how to predict future changes in emergency medical workloads. - The second study analyzes regional road safety using probe-car big data. Based on 40 GB of driving
records, including acceleration data, the project develops methods for identifying and predicting nearmiss
locations on roads in Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City.
